Session News
Should have had this out
on Saturday, Sunday at least!! I don't know; maybe it was the full moon
but things just didn't happen. Saturday was soporific... felt like I
should be asleep all day, catching up on what was already too much
sleep; it's wonderful what a gray rain day can do... Sunday then had
tomake up for it with chores and chasing a little sunshine, so blurb got
left behind.
We are kind of on countdown now. Tonight is our second last night
probably. There will be no Monday night sessions next week as it is a
holiday ..... a 4 day ripper of a holiday. Then it is around to May and
May 2 may well be it for us.
Where will you be this weekend? Canberra for the National?? Byron for
the Bluesfest? On your pillow for a long rest? So many choices and 4
days in a row, legitimately, is unheard of. Make the most of it, be
safe and have fun.
See you at the X Hopefully tonight.
John
People are nice. At least they can be and most are
when they take the time to think things through. You have to give
credit where credit is due and this week the award goes to AMIN -
Australian Music Industry Network. These guys are providing you with an
incredible amount of insight and experience for free, nix, nada! Among
the members and contributors there is a wealth of experience. You
would be mad not to use it. Check their website - www.amin.org.au/. You will be glad that you did.
Of particular interest is the Musician's Legal Pack - a series of
articles and checklists on many aspects of your life as a working
musician. There is also an interesting one on TAX, that dreaded annual
voyage into the unknown. Thank you AMIN for your efforts!!
For you guitar players, I continue to recommend Acoustic Guitar, its
website and accompanying facilities. I get an email from them every day
giving a little tidbit of useful information. It's not always useful
to me but i can see the relevance in the broader perspective. ACOUSTICGUITAR.COM They are one of many special interest magazines making the transition successfully from print media to online.
And it's only 3 more weeks to Byron. Yeah !! What a year. Will you me up there for the Busking competition?
Finally we have this Monday night which promises to be a good one.
April is finally here, the mornings have just a taste of crisp about
them. Get out there and get heard. If not Monday at the Excelsior,
somewhere else in town. Russell Neal is working his butt off to provide
playing opportunities for yon. Support him, or don't complain when
those opportunities disappear.
